1. Overview
Igloo ("we", "our", "the extension") is a browser extension for Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and other supported browsers that helps you stay focused by filtering distracting YouTube recommendations and Shorts based on your current task, and by covering off-topic YouTube watch pages and feeds during an active focus session. This Privacy Policy explains what data Igloo collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
We take your privacy seriously. Igloo does not sell your personal data, does not show ads, and does not track you across the web.
2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
Igloo stores the following information locally in your browser using the browser's built-in storage API. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers:
- Your current focus task name and session timer settings
- Your selected distraction categories and filtering preferences
- Your local focus stats, such as videos filtered, videos kept, streak days, and session counts
- Extension settings and preferences
- Your plan tier, trial status, and daily credit balance
- Your license / activation token (a signed JWT — contains no raw payment data)
- The email address you entered for checkout or login (stored locally only to pre-fill those fields)
3. Data Sent to Igloo's Server
When you use Igloo's cloud-assisted YouTube filtering feature, the following data is sent to our Cloudflare Worker (hosted at focuslens-api.insipidrust.workers.dev):
- The title, channel name, and topic/metadata of YouTube video recommendations visible on your screen
- Your current focus task (so the server can judge relevance)
- Your license token (to verify your subscription status)
This data is used only to determine whether a YouTube recommendation is related to your task, verify trial/paid access, and manage daily cloud classification credits. It is not sold, used for advertising, or used to build a browsing-history profile.
Classification requests may be forwarded to Google's Gemini API for AI-assisted analysis (see Section 6). If trial/paid access or cloud classification is unavailable, Igloo fails open and leaves content visible.
4. Email Address & Account Login
Igloo uses your email address as your account identity. We collect and process it in the following ways:
- Starting a trial or buying a plan: you enter your email, which is passed to Stripe for checkout and used to enforce our one-free-trial-per-email rule.
- Signing in on a new device: Igloo can email you a one-time, expiring magic link. When you request one, your email is sent to our email delivery provider (Resend) so the link can be delivered; clicking it signs that device in to your existing plan. No password is ever created or stored.
On our server we store small email-keyed records in Cloudflare KV to make these features work: a marker that an email has used its one free trial, short-lived login and activation tokens, and a short anti-spam throttle. We do not use your email for marketing and do not send promotional email.
5. Data Collected During the Free Trial
Free trials are provided through Stripe as card-required subscription trials: starting a trial creates a Stripe customer and subscription that converts to a paid plan unless cancelled before the trial ends. Igloo's server stores your plan tier, license status, and daily credit balance keyed to your Stripe customer ID, along with the one-trial-per-email marker described above. Igloo never sees or stores your card number — payment details are handled entirely by Stripe.
6. Third-Party Services
Igloo uses the following third-party services (sub-processors):
- Stripe – handles all payment processing and trials. Your payment details are entered directly on Stripe's secure checkout page; Igloo never sees or stores your credit card number. Stripe receives your email address. Privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy
- Cloudflare – hosts Igloo's backend API and KV storage, where plan/license status, daily credit counts, and the email-keyed login/trial records are stored. Privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
- Resend – delivers the one-time magic-link login emails. Resend receives the recipient email address and message content needed to send the link. Privacy policy: resend.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Google Gemini API – classifies YouTube recommendations. Visible recommendation text and your current task may be forwarded to Google's Gemini API. See ai.google.dev/terms
- Browser Storage API – used to store your local settings on your device only.
7. Payment Information
All payments are processed by Stripe. Igloo does not collect, store, or have access to your credit card number, bank account, or billing address. Stripe provides Igloo only with a confirmation of payment, your email address, and a customer identifier.
For subscription management, plan changes, cancellation, and invoice history, you can use the Stripe customer portal (reachable from the extension) or contact our support email.
8. Permissions Used by the Extension
Igloo requests only the permissions it needs:
- storage – to save your task, preferences, focus stats, and license locally.
- alarms – to end your focus session automatically when its timer runs out.
- YouTube content script access – to read visible YouTube recommendation text and apply non-destructive overlays during a focus session.
- host permissions for Igloo's Worker API – to request cloud-assisted relevance classifications, manage your license, and send magic-link login emails during trial or paid access.
Igloo does not execute remote code. The API returns data (JSON), not executable scripts.
9. Data Retention
Local data is stored in your browser until you uninstall Igloo or clear browser storage. Server-side plan/license status and credit counters are stored in Cloudflare KV for up to 400 days from last activity, as is the one-trial-per-email marker. One-time activation and login tokens expire within minutes to one hour, and the login anti-spam throttle expires within one minute.
10. Children's Privacy
Igloo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
11. Your Rights & Data Deletion
You may request deletion of any data associated with your account or license at any time. To request data deletion:
- Email us at: igloosupp@zohomail.eu
- Include "Data Deletion Request" in the subject line and the email address used during purchase.
- We will process your request within 30 days.
To remove locally stored data, uninstall the Igloo extension, or clear extension storage in your browser settings. You can also sign out from the extension's plan page, which clears the license stored on that device.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Igloo after changes means you accept the updated policy.
